This is the Oregon Department of Forestry Daily Fire Update for Wednesday, July 11, 2007. FIRES ODF fires: Thunderstorms late Tuesday produced a number of fire starts across the state. In the Klamath area, 12 new fires were reported. Firefighters are still getting into some of the fires in remote locations. The Lakeview area reported four new fires. The Northeast Oregon District had one new fire. The Southwest Oregon District was hit hard by lightning last evening, with dozens of strikes producing several fire starts. Reconaissance flights to check all of the strike sites are underway this morning. Other fires: The 31,000-acre Bartlett Mountain Fire five miles south of Drewsey is 75 percent contained. The Bureau of Land Management is lead agency on the fire. The 2,100-acre Calamity Complex 16 miles southeast of Seneca is 10 percent contained. The U.S. Forest Service lead agency on the fire. The 35,000-acre Egley Complex 10 miles north of Riley is 15 percent contained. The BLM is lead agency on the fire. Gov. Ted Kulongoski has invoked the Oregon Conflagration Act to provide structural protection assistance. The 1,070-acre Ironside Complex 10 miles southwest of Ironside is 25 percent contained. The BLM is lead agency on this fire. The 2,778-acre Millican East Fire 24 miles south of Prineville is 70 percent contained. The BLM is lead agency on this fire.
