Ok, I figured it out after doing some research. The belt came off the 88 motor and he reused it when he put the 94 in. I'll have to get the right one tomorrow. ugh. Just one more delay in getting it going.
I was able to get shocks today that are the right length for the spring lift. One is already on and I'll replace the other tomorrow.

OK, I need help here. I have power but no crank. Not sure what the problem is.
Also, need some info/help on the injector system. Seems to not want to go on tight enough to the fuel rail.

Can you turn the motor over by hand to make sure nothing is jammed
Do you have a pic of the fuel rail

The motor does turn by hand. I have power to the fuel pump but no start. Here's a pick of the fuel rail. After looking at the pic, I see I don't have the rail down far enough on the injectors. So my question is how do I get the injectors in all the way without bending the aluminum rail? I've tried, but I guess I just don't have the power to do it myself. UGH.

Yeah, that's pretty much what the book says. My problem is having enough strength to push the injectors back into the fuel rail. LOL

Yeah, but as the fuel rail is aluminum, can't beat it too much without bending it.
I got it started last night. Couldn't let it run for long as the fuel light came on. Will get a can of gas this afternoon and let her run for about 20 minutes then check everything over again.
Still having issues changing the driver shock. May have to remove the brake pump to get to it.

Ok, got the other shock changed, took her for a drive and found out the water pump needs replaced now. Will try to get that done tomorrow. Also need to replace the heater core as I have not heat and hey, I like to wheel in winter but I like to be warm when I do, lol.

Ok, if any of you know anything about the cherokee 4.0L motor, I could really use the help.
Heading down the road, testing it out, start to hear a clicking when I accelerate. Let off and it stops - ok the belt is shot, figured that one out. Get to the stoplight, light turns green, hit the accelerator and go about 2 miles an hour with the pedal to the floor. Finally it dies about a mile down the road and will not restart. Let it cool down, restarts just fine and runs for about 5 miles til it does the same thing all over again.
I have changed the water pump, the thermostat, hoses and such. All is good to go so I'm thinking electrical. Am I on the right track???
