Hi Everyone,
The March 29 OHV Trail Assessment Work Party is postponed until April 12!
Mother Nature is not cooperating - it snowed all day in the Tillamook State Forest and the outlook for the rest of the week is for continued snow accumulation. We've got a good 6" at Rogers Camp and Browns Camp as of noon today. That means that the trails we need to assess are impassable due to the snow conditions.
So instead of canceling we are taking a "snow check" and rescheduling the Trail Assessment Work Party for April 12. That means there will be 2 OHV work parties happening at the same time on April 12.
Details for the two projects are listed below. If you have any questions please feel free to give either of our OHV Specialists a call (Jahmaal Rebb at 503.359.7463 and Dave Hiatt at 503.815.7024) or you can call me at 503.359.7464.
PROJECT: NEW TRAIL CONSTRUCTION ON SINGLE TRACK MOTORCYCLE-ONLY TRAIL
DATE: Saturday, April 12
TIME: 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
MEETING LOCATION: Jones Creek Day Use Area (Milepost 22.5 on Highway 6)
We will be signing folks in and having a project overview discussion at the Jones Creek Day Use Area.
We are asking folks to carpool from Jones Creek to the project site due to limited parking opportunities.
TOOLS TO BRING:
Chainsaws with full protective gear (hardhat, goggles, ear protection, chaps, gloves)
Loppers / Pruning shears for cutting brush
Handsaws / Pruning saws for cutting back small branches
PROJECT: OHV TRAIL ASSESSMENT WORK PARTY
DATE: Saturday, April 12
TIME: 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
MEETING LOCATION: Rogers Camp
We will be signing folks in and handing out trail assignments at the Rogers Camp Staging Area
The trail assessment work will be focused on the Jordan Creek, Diamond Mill, and Browns Camp Areas.
PROJECT: Spring Trail Assessment & Clearing Work
Bring your bikes, quads, and 4x4s to help us assess the OHV trails.
Each club or group will be assigned or pick specific trails to review and report on. (ODF will provide reporting forms and guidelines.)
Trail tools are welcome as we're sure some of those water bars will be in need of maintenance.
Chainsaws may be used to clear trails with proper protective gear (chaps / hardhat / eye & ear protection / gloves)
If you have a specific area or trail you want to help assess, give me a call and I'll make sure it is set aside for you to review.
We're looking forward to seeing you there!
