Right now at Harbor Freight they run $149 for a 40 inch bending brake. An even more basic one will start around $27.00 and then goes on up from there. The one I'm going to need is 30'' SHEAR, PRESS BRAKE & SLIP ROLL for $400. I know they sell quality stuff and usually at the cheapest price too. But I'll keep my eye out on craigslift and do some more research before I actually buy one.

Well, we ran into a snag on getting the leaf springs on. The outer shell of the bushing had not been removed, so we went ahead and put it on without replacing it so we could just get it moved out of the way for now. It was an interesting time working on this with 3 teenage boys. Sounded more like a locker room than anything. Rockeater & 67special were acting like Fred & Ethel. Here's a picture view of the proceedings. Getting started - how to secure the rig with only 1 highlift and get them off the blocks. Solution to that problem achieved. Getting down to business. Two people needed for the first one. On to the second one. Rockeater and James with the final result. James was our photographer for most of the process. 67Special & James with the final result.

Ambition will get you going any time of day. As for Fred & Ethel, in the last pic, the one sitting on the Scout is 67special aka Dylan and in the pic above the last, Rockeater aka Morgan is sitting on the Scout. James, pictured in both, was the peacemaker, lol.

Well, I don't blame you for not wanting to get out there in the mud and rain. As for the ambition, I wanted it back on it's wheels so I could move it to make some room in the driveway. Plus, if I can't move it, then I can't put it in the garage to work on it. We're still debating on what we want to do next. Either get it completely hooked back up or tear it down and clean it up and put it back together. I'd have to take pics before the tear down in order to remember where everything is supposed to go afterwards.

If you can, I reccomend taking the pics and doing the complete tear down..... its much easier why the vehicle is not driveable

I'm really considering scrapping this project and selling it.

Ok, I've decided to keep her, but I think my son is ready to just get a new rig for himself. Told him he has to get a job first and help pay for half for a different rig tho.

dont blame you. It doesnt look like the scout is very far away from a complete tear down. I would remove the body from the chassis tp do all the body work..Not sure what the drive train needs, but international running gear st some of the strongest stuf there is.

Yeah, I think that is the way to go also. I'll have to reinforce my rafters, but I think if I put pulleys up, I can lift the body straight up and hang it from the rafters for awhile til I get the fram redone. Should be interesting at least.

Ok, well, here's the update on the scout. I left the decision in my son's hand as to whether he wanted to continue with the project or sell it. I think I understand his reasoning more than he does, but he decided to sell it. So this is now gone. He wants something a bit more complete and a lot less rust, lol. ;D
