Sorry. I didn't get the information soon enough to all of you.
The primary focus for our OHV work party efforts on 3/28/09 & 3/29/09 will be trail logout of the Off Highway Motorcycle (OHM) and ATV (quad) trails in the Tillamook District. We have massive amounts of dead fall that still needs to be cleared.
The 4WD trails may already be logged out. The snow has prevented me from assessing some of them. Maybe I can get to them next week if the snow melts out. The 4WD work available is pretty well limited to water runoff control at this point in time.
I plan to use the Smith Homestead parking lot on Highway 6 as the staging area for getting people organized in the morning (0800 to 1000) and getting their progress reports in the afternoon (1530 to 1700).
Please put the following options for OHV volunteer work in the email blast you will be sending out to remind everyone of the upcoming work parties on 3/28 & 3/29 and request them to let me know by email to dhiatt@odf.state.or.us or a phone call to (503) 815-7024, which project they would prefer to work on, and which day(s) they want to do it.
Tillamook OHM single track trail logout
Tillamook ATV quad & OHM trail logout
Jordan Creek Road-to-Trail conversion handwork (brush trim and trail berm removal for water drainage)
Clearing deadfall from the Diamond Mill Trials Bike Area
Install forms for concrete garbage dumpster pad at Diamond Mill OHV Area
Install forms for concrete garbage dumpster pad at the Cedar Creek OHV Staging Area.
Move the steel bridge components from the old Buzzard Point Bridge to its new location on the Spaur Creek Trail
Install grid blocks to temporarily fix a washout on the Outback Trail
Relocate approximately 60 feet of trail on Mongos around a washout and an uprooted tree that took out the trail tread.
Archers 4WD water bar drainage work.
Possible 4WD logout and water drainage work on the Ginsberg Point Trail (Trask)
4WD logout and water drainage work on the Bushong Trail (Trask)
Other trail work that users know about and want to get done?
Please note that the projects that get done will be the ones that get enough volunteers to get them done. Volunteers need to call or email me with what they want to work on and which day, by no later than next Wednesay, 3/25/2009. The ODF can provide hand tools and supplies. Users need to bring their own power tools and power equipment.
Thanks,
Dave Hiatt
