Yes I'm in Hawaii. Hi, my name is Mike and I just retired from 41 years with the Navy. I did 21 active duty and retired and then 20 as civil service at Pearl Harbor and last month retired. I have an 02 TJ with the 2.5l engine. Not much, but what do you need out here. My plans are to finish fixing up my 3 bedroom townhouse and sell out to move to the Lake Stevens area. My daughter and her family are there now. My other two daughters are in Milwaukee and Camp Le June NC. The hubby in NC is on his third tour to the Mideast. He's USMC. Just me and the wife now. Hopefully I can make the move next summer so I can get used to the weather. I plan to do a lot of fishing when I get there that's what I miss the most. So all you guys who know the hot spots standby.
But for now it's aloha from paradise and if you come out this way, send me an email so we can maybe meet up. I've been here for 30 years so I kinda know my way around Honolulu.

Welcome to Hillbilly Offroad and Thank You for your service to our country. If you'd like to put up trails that you know of in Hawaii, I'll be glad to create a section just for you to fill us in on the trails there.
Once you get over this way, let us know and we'll try to get a run together.

There are a lot of military folks and some local guys who know the trails a little better than me. Sometime when you have a free moment go to Oahujeepers.com Some of our military buddies hookup with us from the bases in Iraq, keeps them in touch. And then there are those guys who move back home to the mainland but they still email us. In fact two of the guys are up the the Seattle area. Maybe I can find out who they are.
Trails here are not many and they are divided onto 8 different islands. Some guys have trails that are all mud and then others ride through lava fields. Here on Oahu we have two major spots, the flats which is located at the top of one of our "mountains" and the other is Keana Point. Both have limited access. I'd say the best place to wheel is the Big island of Hawaii. It's the largest island and not that many folks live there and they have some nice rigs. I would need to ship my jeep over on a local barge. And this happens just a little $$. I'll throw the word out and see if they guys feed me some info. We do have several folks visit our website for info, esp. military who are coming on orders to a new command located here.
Oh, one question I have for you, are there any specific laws or regulations in Washington concerning what you can and cannot due to your rigs. Here we have these stupid reconstruction rules and if put something on your rig that did not come with it from the factory, you need a permit. Strange too, it only is enforced on Oahu.
Nice chatting, aloha
