Okay guys, are we asleep at the switch??? I have been on most of the websites of the clubs and there is nothing about SB 101. We need to be clear that our goal has been to keep the family in four wheeling - how about your five or six year old?? Most of the bill is great - we will support it with the exception of a couple minor things and one major - it bans kids under seven from riding - even if they already are.... Are we so tired from SB 49 that we are going to lay down and accept what is handed to us? It isn't over guys, SB 49 is just on hold.... SB 101 is getting a hearing to go to the floor... Please post it on your sites to let your members know. They are counting on you to get the word out....Monday, 1:00 at the Oregon Capitol..... This isn't a bill we want to kill, it is a bill we want some changes made....but we need to be there to tell them what we want..... Parks has been great with us - they are open to our comments..... Please pass it on and please post it to your site!! Thank you, Lindy

In summary the Bill says:
To legally operate a Class I (ATV) vehicle on premises open to the public -
- People over the age of 16 must posses a Class I all-terrain vehicle operator permit.
- Ages 7-15 must posses a Class I all-terrain vehicle operator permit and be accompanied by an 18 year old or older that has the Class I operator permit and is on the same ATV (passenger) if the ATV is designed for it or on another ATV.
No one under 7 may operate an ATV on public land.
To legally operate a Class III (Off-road motorcycle) vehicle on premises open to the public –
-People over the age of 16 must posses a Class III all-terrain vehicle operator permit.
-Ages 7-11 must posses a Class III all-terrain permit and be accompanied by an 18 year old or older that has the Class III permit and is on the same bike (passenger) if the bike is designed for it or on another bike.
No one under 7 may operate a Off-road motorcycle on public land.
Provisions are in the Statute to hold parents or legal guardians responsible if they let their child ride on public lands without an operator permit or no supervision of an adult with an operator permit and allowing a child under 7 to operate a Class I or III vehicle on public lands.
This proposal is leaps and bounds ahead of Senate Bill 49. It requires safety training and the biggest one of all, ADULT SUPERVISION! Plus, it makes Class I and III regulations consistent with each other. However, all is not well with this Bill.
