Howdy fellow OHV’ers,
We are looking for input from the Class III crowd in regards to amendments to Senate Bill 101.
As ATV’ers for Class I proposals, we are against the minimum age, all for adult supervision until the child is 16 and Safety Training Certificates for all that ride Class I vehicles.
Current ORS regulations for Class III: Public Lands
Minimum age 7
7-11 years old must be accompanied by an 18 year old or older with either drivers license or operator permit
12 and up can operate the Class III vehicle unsupervised with either an operator permit or drivers license
Proposed by Parks for Class III: Premises open to the public
Minimum age 7
7-15 years old must have operator permit and be supervised by an 18 year old or older with operator permit.
16 and up can operate the Class III vehicle unsupervised with an operator permit.
The change in language from Public Lands to Premises open to the public creates a problem for the current minimum age statute for Class III with races open to the public on private lands.
The language that Class I youth riders can only be supervised by Class I adult riders and Class III youth riders can only be supervised by Class III adult riders is being amended by Parks. I believe the language will state that youth on Class I or III are supervised by an adult with operator permit.
Please give me your ideas and suggestions for changes or support of the proposals for Class III.
Thank you
Tom
