Hey gang,
Here is what Law Enforcement is using to enforce safer 2-up riding.
Oregon Administrative Rules
Standards for off-road vehicles:
735-116-0000
Safety Equipment Standards for Off-Road Vehicles:
(e) Floor Pan/Foot Pads. All vehicles must have floor pans, with the exception of motorcycles and multi-wheeled motorized vehicles, that must have foot pads or equivalent, so designed and mounted as top keep the driver’s and any passenger’s feet within the frame of or from underneath the vehicle>
Stat. ORS 821.030
What they are enforcing is that the passenger must have a place to put their feet (not the engine, exhaust, a-arms, etc). So currently, if you add another set of pegs to the frame for the passenger, they will not bother you. If your passenger’s feet are dangling all over the place you will be cited for riding 2-up. Plus, they are looking at what the passenger has to hold onto, children riding in front holding onto the gas cap etc.
