TILLAMOOK, Ore. (AP) - Tillamook County authorities say a 22-year-old man died during the Memorial Day weekend when his Jeep rolled down a steep mountainside after a tow rope broke. Sheriff's Deputy Gordon McCraw says Eugene Baller of Willamina had been camping with friends in a heavily forested area east of Tillamook. Baller was navigating a narrow dirt road when the Jeep slid off the trail. With Baller still inside, another member of the group attached a tow rope to the Jeep and attempted to pull it back onto the road with his vehicle. The rope broke and the Jeep rolled downhill 75 to 100 feet, coming to rest against a tree. Baller's friends scrambled to remove him from the vehicle. They located a road out and took him to Tillamook County General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Baller's parents are Rita and Lloyd Baller. Rita Baller is a former mayor of Willamina. www.kval.com/news/local/19319599.html
