Ok, I've replaced the EGR valve, the TPS, the head & gasket, manifold gasket, the water pump, the thermostat, radiator hose, flushed the radiator, replaced the plugs and wires and I'm still having an issue I don't know enough to solve.
After about 4 miles, the engine starts a ticking noise towards the firewall, then I lose throttle and the engine starts overheating where eventually the engine shuts down.
What could be causing this issue?

Maybe Timing or Vacuum leak , a lean condition

I'm having the radiator flushed today. When I opened the petthingy, hardly any water came out and when I tore down the front to get to it, there was mud caked all over it on the outside. The resevoir was filled with reddish brown mud too.

Well, the radiator was toast. There was so much mud in it that it was cheaper to buy a new one then have it flushed. I put the new radiator in this morning and started her up with no problem. Started to back out of the driveway and started seeing smoke come out the tail pipe. By the time I got to the end of my driveway, I had smoke coming out from the sides. I put her in park and looked underneath. Oh boy. I had blown out the catalytic converter.
That is the only thing I really can't do as I still don't know how to weld. I know it's a matter of using the sawzall to cut the old one off, but welding is something I can't do yet.
Anyone want to volunteer their help and time??

If you get a universal catalytic converter it will be a clamp on but like oldcoote said it maybe as easy as bolting one on.

Mine is welded on. The new one is universal and looks like I may have to weld, but will try clamping it on first.

Couldn't use the clamps, but was able to get it welded on with the help of my 17 year old neighbor who knows how to weld.
Now my problem is getting it started. Not sure why it won't start unless the fuel injectors are messed up. I have 2 where the o-rings rolled when I put them in and I don't think the seals are complete tho I'm not leaking fuel. Not sure why it won't stay running. I don't have an ohm meter to check the tps for voltage so I'll have my future son-in-law take a look when he has time.
Any other ideas of what might keep it from starting??? I do have spark and good fuel pressure.
